As you're reading this, your phone is probably in your hand buzzing every few minutes. It may be Facebook, Instagram, or even Snapchat. We can't help it. This is how the world functions today.

We are constantly in contact with friends, family and our work places.

In fact, we are so digitally influenced many people are quick to believe that the real estate industry soon will be controlled digitally. It will be in our palms and at the tip of ours fingers.

As if it isn't already. The MLS is online where we can easily pull up information on a property on our phones, tablets or laptops. Years before it was in print and updated by print.

Zillow, Trulia and websites such as all have mobile apps through which clients are able to view properties they are interested in. Clients who are already in contract do much of their communication through e-mails, phone calls, and texts.

Most people are even predicting that the digital age may call end to the real estate agent. However, article written by Brena Swanson shows that 87% of buyers who have recently purchased a home used a real estate agent to go forward with the process.

It is important to remember that this information was highly focused on millenials looking to buy homes, the numbers when it comes to using electronics and their most used methods when it comes to starting the buying or selling process.

Although the future of business may rely on technology and digital age, it does not mean that it will completely take over. At the end of the day, when people start to buy a home, they are looking for a helping hand who will guide them through the entire process. They are looking for someone to answer their questions, to give them reassurance when they are in doubt and to make sure everything turns out well in the end.

All of this is provided by the real estate agent. There are still years of study left to be done in order to truly test whether the digital age will take over the real estate industry for good.
