With some inexpensive milk paint, you can give that nightstand in your bedroom a antique or vintage look. Use sandpaper to give the original nightstand a smooth surface before painting it. Milk paint comes in form of powder so you will need warm water to mix the powder. After applying the first coat of paint and letting it dry, apply petroleum jelly on the nightstand, especially around the knobs, handles and corners. Finish off with the second and third coat of paint.

2. SHABBY CHIC PORCH

A great way to make a first impression is decorating your porch. Adding distressed window frames and door frames can add a welcoming tone to your front door. Don't forget to add some potted plant to complete the look.

Distressed furniture doesn't always have to be in beach homes. You can definitely have a formal setting and one piece of furniture that goes well with the rest of the pieces but also stands out at the same time.
